K-POP POPE!

Get ready for K-POP POPE! Pope Francis confirmed that the next World Youth Day will take place in Seoul 2027! Does it mean the official hymn of the WYD Seoul 2027 will be composed by K-pop artists?

If Pope Francis like K-POP artists, can he be called K-POP Pope? Does he even know what the K-POP is? Of course! First of all, the Pope knows everything! Secondly, during his previous visit to Korea, he got occasion to meet with Korean K-POP musicians. Because some of them are Catholics! For example, K-pop veteran Noh Young-shim, composed a song titled Koinonia, which means altogether.

Does Pope Francis like K-Pop? We know that it is a perfect match! We hope to see on scenes of WYD Seoul2027 some Catholic K-POP stars! Moreover, maybe some of the K-POP artists will decide to make their own hymn for JMJ Seul 2027. We hope for that! It would be a great revolution in the Catholic Church.

Church Music

Of course, Church music, especially when talking about Catholic Church is much more traditional. In Vatican we can hear mostly classical music, singing of boys’ choirs or Gregorian chant. Their rhythm is much more calmer than famous Korean K-POP artists, like BTS or Blackpink. Usually, nobody is dancing, smiling or even signing. In fact, the problem is that Church music from the level of participation was moved forward hearing. Which is exactly not the same. Does it mean we have to made Church music in a style of Asian musician of K-POP or American gospel and worship tracks? Not at all! The Catholic Church needs to find its own way and style. And World Youth Day always seems to be a great opportunity for that!
